About
Shine Art Studio
Our Philosophy
At Shine, we believe that creativity is a pathway to emotional growth, confidence, and connection. As art therapists, we’ve created a nurturing space where people of all ages, especially children and families, can express themselves freely and feel supported in the process. Whether through playful mark-making or quiet reflection, our goal is to help people shine from the inside out.
Our Story
Jennifer and Amy met on the first day of their master’s program, where a friendship sparked over green smoothies. With graduate degrees in counselling, and specializing in Art Therapy, they’ve seen how creativity can support people (especially children) navigate emotions, build resilience, and reconnect with themselves and others.
Shine grew from their shared desire to create a space where emotional wellbeing and creative expression are interconnected.

### Jennifer
Jennifer brings a rich background in elementary and special education, with a dedicated focus on children’s literacy. Her teaching and volunteer work abroad have deepened her understanding of childhood adversity and the many pathways to healing. Through her master’s research, she explored the benefits of using art to process trauma with elementary aged children. She is also the mother of three of her own children.

### Amy
Amy is a visual storyteller with a background in photography, art, and design. Her graduate research focused on matrescence—the transition into motherhood—and how photographic creative practices can support this shift by offering space for reflection, identity exploration, and meaning-making.
