Art + Approach

  • We offer a variety of art experiences for different ages and needs, including:

    • Unparented (ages 4–6)

    • Parented (ages 1.5–5)

    • After-school programs (ages 7–12)

    • One-on-one therapeutic art sessions for all ages

    • Baby + Me (Infant + Caregiver)

  • Shine’s art therapy–informed sessions invite children and families to explore art-making in open-ended ways. Materials are intentionally selected to foster emotional resiliency, curiosity, self-exploration, and overall physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being. The focus is on the creative process, encouraging creativity, emotional expression, self-awareness, and personal growth.

  • Our children’s programs are inspired by art therapy principles but are not clinical therapy sessions. We integrate therapeutic techniques—such as carefully chosen materials and sensory-rich activities—to nurture emotional well‑being and self‑expression in a fun, supportive setting.

  • Sometimes, but not every session results in something to take home.

  • Our art materials are non-toxic. Children with these tendencies are welcome to attend our parented programs.

Registration + Logistics

  • You can register anytime through our website on the Register page. Feel free to email us with questions.

  • We understand that plans change! To receive a refund or credit, cancellations must be made at least one week before the session starts. If we can fill the spot with less notice, we’re happy to refund. No refunds or credits after the program begins.

  • To help keep everyone healthy, please keep your child home if they are showing any signs of illness—such as fever, cough, vomiting, diarrhea, or a runny nose not caused by allergies. As space is limited, we’re unable to offer make-up classes.

  • No prior art experience or skill is required. Sessions focus on the process of creating, not the final product.

  • Clients can choose how much they want to share. Sessions may involve talking, creative expression, or a combination, whatever feels most comfortable.

  • Art is the language in these sessions. The use of art materials provide a gateway to process emotions, reduce stress, and build self-awareness.

  • A variety of art-making materials are available and chosen with intention, including crayons, paints, collage materials, paper, clay, and more. All materials are carefully selected for safety, sensory engagement, and suitability for children, teens, and adults.

  • Typically sessions are one-on-one, but we are happy to discuss what works best for you and your family.

  • We follow the child’s lead and offer multiple ways to engage. Sometimes just being in a creative space is enough.
